What’s The Rainmaker Challenge?

Rainmaker Challenge
Rainmaker Challenge

The Rainmaker Challenge seems more like a workshop than a real “challenge,” but that’s fine. We’ll just say it was a hard workshop…

It’s basically an introductory course that shows you how to start an Amazon FBA business in 7 days. If you don’t know what Amazon FBA is, I’ll explain it in more detail below.

For now, the short version is that it’s a home-based business that lets you sell physical products to customers through Amazon.

Stephen and Chelsey Diaz made the Rainmaker Challenge. They call it the perfect nap time business.

It’s a different take on the usual Amazon FBA courses, and it’s aimed at stay-at-home moms. The feeling of a friendly family business is appealing.

Even though I’m more of a work-from-home dad than a stay-at-home mom, I liked how they presented their information and how it was set up.

The Rainmaker Family

The Rainmaker Family is made up of all the people in the Rainmaker community, but Stephen and Chelsey are the people who started it all.

Stephen and Chelsey met at a summer camp when they were still in school. They also worked as wedding photographers for four years before realizing that their business, Trécreative, would not be able to support a family.

Even though the business was successful and they made a good living from it, they were still trading hours for dollars. And it would be hard to start a family if you worked that many hours.

So, they tried things like a photo booth business, Airbnb, and short-term investing that they hoped would bring in money on their own.

Along the way, they also tried an eComm business that made some money, so they looked into it more. That’s how they found out about Amazon FBA.

Chelsea didn’t think it would work, but it did, and in 2021 they were able to quit the wedding business.

As they built their own Amazon FBA business, they started teaching others, which led to the creation of the Rainmaker Family.

The Rainmaker Challenge: how does it work?

The Rainmaker Challenge is a 7-day live training in which you will learn about Amazon FBA with other people. During those seven days, Stephen and Chelsea go live every day at 9 AM PST (12PM EST).

The call is streamed into the Rainmaker Family Facebook Group. You can find the feed at the top of the page in the “Featured” section.

They will also tell you to sign up for text message alerts.

You can find call replays in the Facebook Group’s Guides section. In that section, you can also find content from previous challenges and tutorials that go with each day’s videos.

The schedule for the Rainmaker Challenge Course

Each day of the challenge shows you a different part of the Amazon FBA business model and builds on what you learned the day before.

Day 1: How to Begin?

You will learn what Amazon FBA is and how it works on the first day. Chelsea and Stephen talk about how to be successful, “quick wins,” and finding your “why.”

To make passive income, you need to define and know your “why.” Before you make money with a business, you have to put in a lot of work upfront, so you need to know why passive income is important to you.

Along with testimonials, Chelsea and Stephen will lead a discussion about the mindset you need to build an Amazon FBA business and the fears that hold you back.

Day 2: How Long Will It Take?

Different people need different amounts of time to start and run an online business. One thing is certain, though, and we’ve already talked about it: if you learn from someone else’s mistakes, you’ll save time.

On day two, Stephen and Chelsea show you how they save time running their business and talk to challenge members and guests to get more advice.

Most likely, building your business will take more time than keeping it going. It takes time to learn what to do and how to do it, and it can be hard to get going. So you can expect to get up early and stay up late.

But it’s worth it for those who stick with it. It’s hard to explain how passive income affects your life, but it does, often in ways you wouldn’t expect. For example, you might not think that having less stress and more time to exercise and eat well would be good for your health.

But in the beginning, building a business takes a lot of hard work. It’s great to talk about the benefits, like passive income, but you should also have realistic goals. Yes, you can make six or even seven figures with an online business, but it takes time to learn the skills you need, test products and marketing campaigns, etc.

Day 3: How much does it cost to set up an Amazon FBA business?

Day three is all about making money and getting started with a good budget.

Chelsea and Stephen will show you the Power Profit Tool and talk about how to take calculated risks.

They will also show you different ways to sell on Amazon and explain the tech and software you need to build an Amazon FBA business.

It’s best to start with between $1,000 and $10,000. Your start-up costs will be low if your first product is perfect, but there is a way to learn how to do things better. Stock is your biggest expense. And, unfortunately, there are a lot of reasons why a product might not make money.

Courses like The Rainmaker Challenge can help with this. It’s important to know which products to sell, how much profit to aim for, and where to buy them, which are all things we talked about on day five.

Day 4: Tools and methods to save time

The point of a passive income business is that you don’t have to do anything. Even though I think it’s better to own a business than to work for someone else, most business owners still work a lot of hours.

This is where the Internet is different.

The internet lets you reach people all over the world and automate tasks in ways that traditional “brick-and-mortar” businesses can’t.

On the fourth day, Stephen and Chelsea will show you how they do this with online tools. They also talk about how to find hidden opportunities for products.

Day 5: Finding Products That Make Money and Sell

Find the best products to sell. This is one of the more creative and fun parts of starting an FBA.

Up until this point in the challenge, it may have been hard to picture what it would be like to run an eCommerce business. But once you know what to sell and can start figuring out real numbers, your business starts to take shape and become more real.

You will learn how to do product research and how to choose products that will make money. What to look for and the “four qualifiers” that Chelsea and Stephen use to decide if a product is good enough to sell.

Most people think that it’s getting harder to sell online because the market is already full. It’s definitely more crowded now than it was a few years ago, but not to the point where there are no more chances.

Also, online entrepreneurs today have some benefits that they didn’t have when they started out. For example, we have better tools that make it easier to run an online business and access experts who are willing to share what they know.

Some people also think that competition is bad. Yes, it can be, but it doesn’t always happen that way.

One good thing about competition is that it scares away some people.

There are times when something gets too competitive, but this is not one of those times.

Possibly, if you were trying to make the next Amazon. But instead, you’re using Amazon’s power to reach buyers who would have been hard to reach a few years ago.

There may come a time when an independent seller can’t do that, but that time is not now. That doesn’t mean it’s easy, but those who are willing to put in the time and work can still make a lot of money.

Day 6: Finding products to sell and getting in touch with manufacturers

Now that you know what product(s) you want to sell, talk about where people can buy them on day six.

Finding good manufacturers to work with is hard for many Amazon FBA sellers. Most of the time, when you buy something, it comes from another country, so you can’t meet the maker or check out their facilities.

So, it’s helpful to have recommendations from people you can trust.

This will save you a lot of time and money because you won’t have to try out different manufacturers and waste money on low-quality products, slow shipping times, etc.

Working with inspection services like QIMA, which will meet with a manufacturer and give an inspection report, is an optional step that many FBA sellers take.

Of course, this step will depend on how much money you’re putting in. You should also think about ordering samples of the product(s) you want to sell.

Day 7: Getting your business moving faster

On Day 7, Stephen and Chelsea talk about your rainmaker journey and how to take your business to the next level. They also tell you their best success tip and how to speed up the growth of your business.

You can also keep going in the Rainmaker Family Group/Passive Income Training Community, where people share tips and ideas.

How much does it cost to start an Amazon FBA business?

It’s not always as easy as it sounds to start an Amazon FBA business. That doesn’t mean it’s not a good way to run a business, but as with any business, there are often challenges and problems that nobody saw coming.

There are also costs to think about, such as the following:

Online tools for researching products, keeping an eye on listings, doing analytics, and so on.
Stephen uses Helium 10 to show how product research works. Prices for custom plans start at $39 per month and go up to $249 per month and more. If you are just starting out as an Amazon FBA seller, you can get by with the cheaper plans.

JungleScout is another tool that many FBA sellers use. Depending on the plan you choose, it costs $29 to $84 per month to use JungleScout.

These tools help you do product research, like figuring out how likely a product is to sell and how much demand there is for it based on keyword research. They can also help you keep an eye on your Amazon listings.

Things to sell

Product inventory will be your biggest cost.

Even though your first purchase can cost less than $1,000, it’s risky to spend only that much. This is because you can’t be sure that your first product listing will be a winner.

In any case, many Amazon sellers say that your landed cost (to Amazon) should be at least 25% of the sales you hope to make (before FBA fees).

For instance, if you want to make a total of $10,000 in sales, the total cost of your product, including shipping, should be $2,500 or less. That gives you enough money to pay for extra costs and make a profit.

If you’re prepared to take on the world, launching an online business is a good idea.

Perhaps you need a full-time income from home due to a health problem, having children to take care of, or even working a job you detest.

You might want to start an online business that makes passive income in which case you need to know how (and where) to start in order to achieve your goals.

Now, I’ll give you a free step-by-step beginner’s guide to making money online, which you can access by clicking below.

Are You Ready To Create Your Online Business?

UPC Codes

UPC Codes will be needed for your products. This is a pretty small cost.

Barcode Mania (barcodemania.com), for example, sells 10 codes for $15, 5 codes for $10.00, and 1 code for $4.99.

Individual barcodes are based on how many different products you sell, not how many of the same products you sell. In other words, each item needs its own barcode (not per unit).

When you sell private-label products, you will need to make your own brand. And you’ll need a logo for your brand.

You can make a free logo with a tool like Canva or hire a freelancer on a site like Upwork, Fiverr, or Freelancer to do it for you. Freelancers can charge anywhere from $25 to $100 for logos unless you want something very complicated.

Product Photos

To list your products, you’ll need photos.

Even if the company selling you the product gives you photos, you shouldn’t use the same stock photos as everyone else. If you have no other choice but to use stock photos, you can make them more interesting by adding infographics, comparisons, annotations, etc.

If your supplier doesn’t give you photos, you may need to take your own. If that’s the case, you’ll need to order a sample first.

No matter what, you’ll need good pictures to sell products. For example, you may have seen an Amazon product listing with low-quality images and decided not to buy it because it didn’t look appealing.

So having good photos is an important part of your business.

You can make your own photo package if you know how, or you can hire a freelancer if you don’t. Depending on the situation (like the images of your competitors’ products), a good photo package can cost more than $100 per product.

Account for Amazon Sellers

You need a Professional Seller’s account, which costs $0.99 per unit or $39.99 per month, to get top spots on product pages.

Fees for Amazon FBA (25% of total sales)
Remember how I said that some Amazon FBA sellers say that your landed costs should be about 25% of what you expect to make?

Here’s why.

Amazon handles all the logistics and order management for you, and they don’t do it for free.

Things like advertising and high-volume listings, as well as storage and fulfillment fees, can add up. Fees depend on the type of product, its size, and other things. So, some people say that you should roughly account for 25% of your total income.

Sample of Product

Even though you don’t have to pay for this, you might not want to. But before spending hundreds or even thousands of dollars on inventory, it’s smart to get a sample of what you’re selling.

Amazon FBA Inspection Service: $150 to $300

As we’ve already said, this is another step that you don’t have to do.

A company like QIMA, which is an Amazon inspection service, is based in China and checks your products and manufacturing facilities. This kind of service can cost anywhere from $150 to $300.

You can also have your whole stock sent to you first so you can check it out. Then you can send it to Amazon yourself, but it will cost you more and take longer.

Still, you may not be able to do anything if your products don’t meet standards or are broken. Shipping them back to the company that made them might not be a cheap option. If the product isn’t good enough, you might have to sell it for much less than you had planned.

In the worst case, broken or broken-down products can be a total loss. Even though it’s unlikely, you should still plan for it.

Remember that you will always get bad reviews and returns if you sell low-quality or broken products. That won’t just hurt your sales, but it could also get your Amazon Seller account shut down.

Is The Rainmaker Challenge Legit?

In a world full of scams and schemes to make money, it’s hard not to wonder if The Rainmaker Challenge is real.

While I’m also a skeptic, and my default position is usually that it’s a scam, I had a positive feeling about The Rainmaker Challenge from the beginning.

Right away, you can see that Chelsea and Stephen are real people and are willing to put their faces and name on their program. The Rainmaker Family is also a registered LLC in the state of California.

You can find nearly 80 episodes of The Rainmaker Family Show podcast by doing a quick search (probably more by the time you read this). More than 130 people have given it five stars on the Apple podcasts website.

None of these are signs you’d usually see in a scam (although there are some exceptions). For example, when it comes to expensive high-ticket programs sold by big-name “gurus,” some of them are scams. But they also have hundreds of millions of dollars to use as a defense if the FTC shows up.

This is not the case…

The Rainmaker Challenge is cheap, real, and a good deal for what you pay, in my opinion.

After the challenge, you can buy an extra course, which some might see as a bait-and-switch, but you don’t have to. What you get with the seven-day challenge is worth the cost, and its purpose is to help you decide if Amazon FBA is for you.

Another question is whether Amazon FBA is real or not. Scams have given it a bad name, so it might not be. They say you can get rich beyond your wildest dreams with almost no work. But, sadly, that’s not how it works.

A business with Amazon FBA is a real business. It takes money to buy inventory, tools for running the business, etc., and, like any business, it has both successes and failures. It’s normal to have some successes and some failures.

Your chances of success are much higher when you learn from people like Chelsea and Stephen who have already done what you want to do. But people who say that Amazon FBA is a quick way to make a lot of money while lying on a beach and drinking margaritas are probably trying to sell a scam.

How much will it cost to do The Rainmaker Challenge?

Stephen and Chelsea say that, in addition to the $47 cost of the Rainmaker training, you should have between $1,000 and $10,000 to start your Amazon FBA business.

This would cover the cost of the product and other costs, like Amazon Seller Fees, that was already mentioned.

Compared to starting a traditional “offline” business, starting an Amazon FBA business is very cheap. But for some people, it’s still a big investment.

The earning potential is small compared to what The Rainmaker Challenge can lead to, but they are a simple first step if you’ve never made money online before.

For something more important, you could also start an online business that works on commission.

You might be at home taking care of kids or have a health problem that makes it hard for you to do your regular job.

If that’s the case and you want to make more money, you need to know how and where to start.

Now, I’ll give you a free step-by-step beginner’s guide to making money online, which you can access by clicking below.

Reviews and Complaints about Rainmaker Challenge

The Rainmaker Challenge is getting unusually good reviews, and there aren’t many complaints.

Usually, I would be suspicious of fake reviews in a situation like this, but Stephen and Chelsea seem real, and their way of teaching seems honest.

As with most ways to make money, there is some “dream building” and “lifestyle selling,” but you are still getting real value here.

Also, reviews on sites like Trustpilot give more information and specifics about the program than fake reviews usually do.

Having said that, my guess, and it’s just a guess, is that reviews are asked for or paid for. That doesn’t mean they aren’t sincere, but it could mean that not all of them are natural. This “guess” is based on the fact that a lot of the review dates are close together instead of being spread out.

Having said that, it’s not unusual to see that for challenges, courses, workshops, etc. that are based on groups of people.

In any case, I’m just guessing, and the fact that there aren’t any bad reviews or complaints is just as telling as the fact that there are so many good ones. It’s a very good sign.

If people didn’t like The Rainmaker Challenge, you’d probably hear about it in online comments and chatter. So far, though, there hasn’t been much besides a few complaints. Some of them are from people who may have mixed up this challenge with another one.

Also, there are so many positive reviews on different sites about rainmakers that I can’t even count them all.

What I Like About The Rainmaker Challenge

  • The Rainmaker Challenge is a cheap way to learn about Amazon FBA. It’s not as detailed as some courses, like the ones at BJK University, but it also doesn’t cost thousands of dollars.
  • A large number of good reviews.
  • Chelsea and Stephen are both honest and involved in the group.
    A community that helps.

What I Don’t Like

  • Even though I like the Rainmaker approach and it’s not nearly as “salesy” as some other FBA courses, I still get the feeling that they overstate the opportunity and understate the difficulty. But I think that way.
  • How much it costs to start an Amazon FBA business is pretty high. This isn’t a bad thing to say about the Rainmaker Challenge. It’s just a fact of starting a business (any business, not just FBA) that you have to have physical products on hand right away.
  • Profitability isn’t always what it seems. Again, this isn’t a criticism of the Rainmaker Challenge in particular. It’s a complaint about FBA and e-commerce in general. You’ll read hundreds, if not thousands, of reviews, comments, blogs, etc., that talk about six- and seven-figure months or $10,000 days. Most of the time, they are talking about the total amount of sales, not the profits.
  • Having to do with physical things. There are problems with logistics, like products being late or broken, and the margins are usually lower than what you could make selling services or digital products.

Rainmaker Challenge Review Conclusion

The big question is whether or not the Rainmaker Challenge works, and the answer depends a lot on you.

Amazon FBA works, that is for sure. It’s how a lot of sellers make a living. But you have to spend both time and money on it.

With the Rainmaker Challenge, you can learn from what other people have done. Not only will it help you learn much faster, but it will also help you make better decisions. Because of this, it could help you save money.

Your money will be the main problem here. If money is tight, there are ways to get started online that don’t involve stocking up on products.

You might be a student or a single parent at home. You might be stuck at home because of health problems or because you hate your job.

If that’s the case, you should start an online business.
