Hi, welcome to my ShiftSmart Review. Do you ever hear of ShiftSmart? Is ShiftSmart Legit or a Scam? Let’s see…
Money worries are unpleasant, and you are not alone if they cause you to stress. I’ve been there as well.
You may be burdened with debts and piles of bills to pay. Or perhaps you are caring for someone who requires assistance and requires additional funds. Extra work can be beneficial.
In order to provide assistance, numerous businesses, such as ShiftSmart, have entered the gig economy.
But is Shiftsmart Legit?
Before we begin this review, let me introduce myself…
Hello, my name is Dima, and I’m a successful online marketer who went from spending time to running a successful affiliate marketing business.
In addition, I analyzed and tested over 200 courses to determine the best way to make money online.
In other words, I enjoy making money online and assisting you legally!
I’ll explain what ShiftSmart is, how it works, and whether it’s worth it in this review. I’ll also go through frequently asked concerns and some of the issues that have been documented on their site.

Is Shiftsmart Legit or a Scam? The Overview
What is “ShiftSmart”?
The ShiftSmart platform is used for labor management. It gives people who work shifts the ability to look for entry-level employment including mystery shopping, store merchandising, cleaning, product testing, and survey contacting.
ShiftSmart is a company based in the United States that was established in 2015 by Aakash Kumar, Patrick Brandt, and Pavan Patel. The company has branches in Delaware, California, Louisiana, Washington, and Indiana.
ShiftSmart, a company that promises to provide a more convenient marketplace where workers can interact with companies through the use of their mobile app, is following a trend that has been set by firms such as Uber and Airbnb. In addition to this, it gives you the freedom to select the hours you work and the location of your office, which Aakash believes will foster a new breed of “micro-entrepreneurs.”
The concept behind ShiftSmart is strong, but can it actually be implemented?
And is Is Shiftsmart Legit?
How Does ShiftSmart Work?
ShiftSmart operates similarly to other job marketplaces with which you may already be familiar. After logging onto your account, you look for available shifts and then apply for those shifts. It works in a manner not dissimilar to websites such as ConnectRN, SnagAJob, People Per Hour, and Wonolo.
You should note that you are not a ShiftSmart employee because this is a crucial distinction.
As a worker for ShiftSmart, you are essentially functioning as an independent contractor. You are responsible for managing your time and ensuring that your credentials, training, and other relevant information are up to date as part of your job for various ShiftSmart clients.
ShiftSmart Requirements: Is Shiftsmart Legit or a Scam?
- Smartphone, preferably an Apple or an Android one.
- Internet Connection (reliable and high-speed for jobs performed remotely).
- Desktop or laptop computer running Windows or Mac operating system (for installation, training, and survey calling software).
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- You must be qualified to work in the nation in which you are applying.
- Fluent in English
Onboarding is made easy with ShiftSmart
Download the ShiftSmart app for your mobile device (available for both iOS and Android), then follow the on-screen instructions to create your user profile. When you are finished, go all the way down to the section for job possibilities, and then sign up for the ones that interest you the most.
The onboarding flow that will be displayed on your app will be determined by the positions that you choose to use. In order to successfully finish the onboarding process and get started earning money, you will need to follow those steps.
Note: that the ShiftSmart platform only permits you to have one active account at any given time. If the system determines that you are trying to commit fraud with several accounts, you will be shut out of the system.
Virtual Training Conducted by ShiftSmart
The majority of ShiftSmart’s training is conducted virtually, mostly through the use of Zoom. A “training shift” is simply referred to as “a training session.”
The length of time you spend participating in virtual training might range anywhere from one hour to eight hours, depending on the employer and the role you are trying to fill. Higher-paying occupations typically demand longer training shifts than lower-paying professions do.
Does ShiftSmart Offer Paid Training?
The majority of training is provided without charge, including ShiftSmart’s instruction. They do not always provide paid training for certain roles, but when they do, all of the relevant information will be listed for that specific situation. If the job you’re applying for does not specifically state that the training will be compensated, then it is most likely going to be unpaid.
In order to qualify for the paid training shifts, it is customarily necessary for you to attend the training sessions and finish at least one shift while really working.
Keep in mind that your status with ShiftSmart is that of an independent contractor rather than an employee.
One of the advantages of working as a freelancer or for yourself as an independent contractor is the increased independence and freedom it affords you. You will, however, forego many of the benefits of being an employee, one of which is the opportunity to receive paid training.
That in no way precludes the possibility of you working for another company.
It’s possible that either your full-time or part-time job provides you with those benefits. Additionally, you are unable to pick up shifts through ShiftSmart on the weekends or at other times of the week when they do not interfere with your primary work.
Is ShiftSmart Legit?
Is Shiftsmart Legit? Yes, ShiftSmart is a legitimate company. Concerns have been raised, however, that ShiftSmart may be collecting and selling personally identifiable information.
That is not hard to comprehend. In some circumstances, it seems that new users signed up and, as a result, shared personal information with one another. The application then stopped working or they signed in to find that there were very few shifts available, if any at all.
Once you’ve made the decision to make that information public, there is no way to take it back. Does that mean that it is a con?
The privacy policy of ShiftSmart states that “your information will not be disclosed to a third party unless you affirmatively consent to its release or unless required by law, court order, or as legally required to do so in connection with law enforcement investigations or other legal proceedings.” In other words, your information will not be disclosed to a third party unless you give your consent to its release.
Having said that, they do demand a large quantity of information. And there’s a good explanation for that. They are going to hire you for legitimate work. Companies, like any other type of job, require information for several reasons, including identity, payments, taxes, liability, and so on…
Be sure to read through the ShiftSmart policy in order to obtain a list of personal information and identify items that may be requested by the company.
If you do not feel comfortable revealing that kind of information online or if you are just seeking more methods to get money, They don’t pay as much as the hourly rate you can make with ShiftSmart, but if you’ve never made money online before, they’re a simple way to get started. ShiftSmart offers an hourly rate that may be as high as $15.
They are also a possible stepping stone towards something more substantial, such as the establishment of an online business.
You could be at home because of challenges with your health or because you have young children to take care of.
Obviously, I am unable to confirm that ShiftSmart will not sell your personal information to third parties.
I can say with certainty that ShiftSmart is not one of those questionable platforms that are managed by nameless owners and operate in regions of the world that are unknown to me.
They can also be a step towards something bigger, like an online business.
You may be at home because of health issues or because you have children to care for.
If that’s the case and a full-time income online is what you want, knowing how and where to get started is what you need in order to get what you want.
Now, I’ll give you a free step-by-step beginner’s guide to making money online, which you can access by clicking below.
ShiftSmart was established on August 28, 2015, and its founders, Aakash Kumar, Patrick Brandt, and Pavan Patel, are all actual individuals. The company was founded in the state of Delaware (United States).
As of the first quarter of 2022, one million workers from over 50 different nations were using the ShiftSmart platform.
In addition, as of today, that figure has risen to 1.4 million across 57 countries, as stated on their LinkedIn profile.
On the list of the 5000 most successful companies in the United States that was compiled by Inc., ShiftSmart was ranked 541st.

Therefore, ShiftSmart is a real thing. It is not a scheme to become wealthy quickly while making empty promises. It is a legitimate platform that provides work-from-home opportunities of varying degrees of difficulty. In addition, these do not fall under the category of simple online jobs, which are commonly marketed by con artists.
There are “real” people working these occupations, and they pay by the hour. In addition, it is the kind of work that a lot of people are looking for, which is very important in this difficult economic climate.
So…The company ShiftSmart may be trusted. Does this imply that the company is a good one to work for?
Because the solution isn’t entirely transparent, I’ll go over the testimonials and criticisms that have been posted below. Without a doubt, a great number of individuals like using ShiftSmart. They have more than one million active customers. However, there are some people who have reported having complications. On that topic, more in a bit.
Frequently Asked Questions About ShiftSmart: Is Shiftsmart Legit or a Scam?
How Much Money Is It Possible to Make Using ShiftSmart?
How much money you can make working with ShiftSmart is determined by factors such as the position you hold, the location in which you live, and the availability of shifts.
Generally, entry-level employment pay from $10 to $20 per hour. If you work an eight-hour job, the range of your daily salary, before taking into account taxes, can be anywhere from $80 to $160.
It is possible that you will occasionally be able to schedule a double shift, but your success in doing so will be heavily contingent on the location of the other shift as well as the hours that must be worked. It won’t function if your shifts overlap one another.
Additionally, it is dependent on the location that you currently call home. There are some urban regions that may provide a plethora of options, while there are other areas where you may only receive one or two shifts per week.
Therefore, it is challenging to provide an accurate estimate of how much money one can make working at ShiftSmart. In certain regions, it may be as much as a full-time position with a respectable salary (at least $40,000 per year), while in others, it could be as low as a part-time position (at least $10,000 per year).
Does ShiftSmart Make Payments Every Day?
ShiftSmart does not make payments on a daily basis. Get Paid Now is a function that allows you to take funds from your ShiftSmart account on a daily basis, provided that you have sufficient funds in your account.
Your payment must be approved after each finished shift; this process might take anywhere from 24 to 72 hours. In certain cases, the payment process may take up to five business days.
Therefore, if you’re doing daily shifts, you may be able to take your money daily, but you will constantly be 2 – 5 business days behind.
Establish a connection between the ShiftSmart app and your debit card or bank account.
How Many Hours Are You Able to Work When Using ShiftSmart?
ShiftSmart gives you the freedom to choose the number of hours you put in, whether it be a lot or a little. Therefore, there is no limit placed on the amount of money that can be earned or the number of hours that can be worked.
Of course, you’re restricted by the number of hours in a day and, more crucially, how many hours you can work safely.
Does Using ShiftSmart Require the Use of a Computer?
A Windows or Mac computer (desktop or laptop) running a recent version of Windows or macOS is required of you. A computer is necessary for performing remote tasks, such as survey calls, and will also be required for some initial setup and training.
Does ShiftSmart Drug Test?
ShiftSmart does not drug test under usual conditions. On the other hand, if there is an accident at work or there is a suspicion that drugs were used, they may ask for a drug test.
Another instance in which an employer (through ShiftSmart) may demand a drug test is when the position in question is one that involves working in an environment with specific risks, such as a construction site.
Is Circle K the Only Company That ShiftSmart Supports?
ShiftSmart provides its services to a wide variety of clients, one of which is Circle K.
They also work with the company Dynata, which is in the business of providing market research and insights to companies such as Nestle, Starbucks, Amazon, and Spotify, to name a few.
Other companies that have chosen ShiftSmart as their workforce management solution include Airbnb, Cumberland Farms, Deloitte, Humana, Top Golf, and the Small Business Administration. However, according to the ratings and comments made by workers, the majority of shifts seem to be about Circle K at the moment.
Does ShiftSmart withhold taxes from its employees’ pay?
Since you are an independent contractor (sometimes known as an at-will employee), ShiftSmart will not deduct taxes from the compensation you get from them. Therefore, independent contractors are required to comply with the tax legislation of their home countries.
If you work in the United States and make more than $650 with ShiftSmart during the course of the tax year, the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) will send you a 1099 form to report the income.
ShiftSmart Reviews and Complaints: Is Shiftsmart Legit or a Scam?
The reviews for ShiftSmart are mixed, with the majority of users having complaints regarding the ShiftSmart app. There have also been a number of complaints regarding late payments, a lack of shifts, and inadequate assistance.
To tell you the truth, I found the feedback from other customers to be both shocking and a little bit disappointing.
In addition to appearing on lists such as the Inc. 5000, ShiftSmart has successfully raised $95 million in Series B funding. According to Crunchbase, they’ve received a total of $120.6 million. Therefore, it is unusual to find so many reports of the app having bugs and glitches, as well as reports of the support being unhelpful.

For instance, some of the complaints received from the Apple App Store and Google Play include the following:
- The app never opens in the correct manner. I have exhausted all of my options, and the technical support was of little assistance. When I tried to work with this, I ended up losing money.
- There were so many problems. I am unable to log in most of the time, and on the rare occasions that I am successful, the button labeled “start background check” is inoperable.
- Despite the fact that the app would not let me clock in or out today, I worked the shift that was set for me. Now I am unable to give screenshots of the aforementioned scheduled shift, and I have already left the building, so I do not have the selfie.
- The application itself has a large number of bugs. I have sent a number of tickets to customer service, but they take several days to answer and never actually find a solution to my problems.
Concerning the problems with the application, it is important to note that we do not know what device it is being installed on, nor do we know whether there are any problems with the device itself. It is abundantly clear that a great number of people are utilizing the app effectively.
Another potential issue is that there appears to be some miscommunication between clients and ShiftSmart on occasion, which results in workers showing up for shifts for which they are not needed. This is an example of the problem.
For instance, one customer said on Google Play that…
- I was told by the store manager that they don’t even use workers from this app anymore after I had confirmed my INITIAL shift using the app, take an Uber to the store, and verified AGAIN via text.
It’s important to note that not every review is negative. There are also a lot of reviews that are positive.
Some examples of nice comments made about reviews are…
- I just recently received my first payment, and yesterday was my first day working. Everything has run really well, and I couldn’t be happier with how things turned out.
- I have had sporadic experience with Shiftsmart over the past two years, and I can attest that they are a legitimate company. You will never have to worry about not getting paid on time again.
- Because of a problem with the update, I first rated them only one star when I started using the app for the first time. I accepted and performed my first job yesterday and it went great.
- …I can say that my experience has, on the whole, been pleasant. I emailed the support personnel, and they always respond quite quickly. Following the completion of my onboarding, I reported to work. I have no complaints…
These evaluations, complaints, and comments may or may not be reliable; the question is, do you want to put your faith in them?
Now, here’s the deal…
On Google Play, the app ShiftSmart has been downloaded more than 500,000 times. In addition, there are approximately 15,200 reviews displayed right now, which is a considerable number. However, when taken as a whole, the number of reviews in comparison to downloads is rather low.
Unhappy users, customers, clients, and so on are more likely to leave a review unless they are “bribed” to do so, as is the practice of some businesses.
As a result, the majority of evaluations are typically critical.
Of course, you can’t just brush off the critical comments and feedback, but keep in mind that this is only one side of the story. This is due to the fact that hundreds of thousands of people who use the ShiftSmart app have not shared their experiences. In the event that they did, it is a safe bet to assume that the majority of their comments would be favorable.
What I Like About ShiftSmart: Is Shiftsmart Legit or a Scam?
- employment is that is legitimate as well as opportunities to work from home.
- Fair remuneration. The work that is being given to you has a reasonable hourly salary, but you shouldn’t expect to get wealthy at it.
- Flexibility. You are free to work as many or as few hours as they have openings for, depending on your preferences.
- The onboarding process is only moderately complicated.
What I Do Not Like About It: Is Shiftsmart Legit or a Scam?
- There have been reports of bugs in the app as well as inadequate assistance (although these may be isolated incidents).
- There has not been a movement in certain regions.
- Training is provided for free.
- A significant quantity of unfavorable comments and complaints.
Final Words: Is Shiftsmart Legit or a Scam?
You’re not the only one who wants more money and freedom. The majority, if not all, can relate.
ShiftSmart does provide a decent level of flexibility so I certainly think it’s worth trying.
It doesn’t hurt to download the app and check for shifts, despite some other users’ reports to the contrary. You won’t pay anything for it.
There are other choices if there are no shifts or if you just want to increase your income.
You can be a student in school or a single parent at home, or have health difficulties that make regular work difficult. Perhaps you simply detest your present position and want for a change.
If so, starting an online business might be the best option for you.
Despite this, you must know where to start and how to do so in order to avoid falling victim to any of the many frauds and schemes that are out there.

And don’t forget to tell your friends and family about Shiftsmart Review.
I have heard about programs that hook people up with various jobs slated for a specific duration time. This is an interesting article about Shiftsmart one of those type programs. I appreciate your honest review of Shiftsmart. You mentioned that $15/hr was about the rate offered. That is not a great rate, but if there is not need for gas or meals or clothes costs, that’s not bad. I am wondering why the app had to be download only on a phone, but I am gong to look into it. Thanks for this information.
Thank you for your comment friend!
I have never heard of Shiftsmart…and it sounds like it is more trouble than it is really worth. It is understandable if you are looking to make money online as a side hustle; however, there are so many other opportunities to make legitimate money that doesn’t have to work through specific technical issues as well as data mining (giving all your information to them.)
Now, on the flip side, if the technical side gets situated, it sounds like it is more likely a site that can be used at least for spending cash. I agree that affiliate marketing or building a blog would be a better opportunity.
Thanks for your article!
Thank you for your comment friend!
Thank you for your insight on Shiftsman. I have used other freelancing sites like Fiverr and People per Hour. Freelancing is a great way to get started online. I started freelancing in 2016. It helped me learn to meet deadlines and stay focused on my online business. But like you rightly said, if you want to make the bulk, you need to build your own business. I started doing that when I started my website in 2019. It will take a lot of work, but you make more money and have more leisure time at the end.
Thank you for your comment friend!
I have not heard of Shiftsmart before, but that is understandable as they only operate in a few States in America. Being able to work as an independent freelance contractor, would appeal to many people. It gives you flexibility and freedom, that might not be the case with being an employee.
It is good to know that Shiftsmart is actually a legitimate company, that might have limitations in earnings, but could be a good solution for freelancers. Thank you for sharing this resource.
Thank you so much for your comment friend!
When it comes to determining if a company is legitimate or a scam, it’s essential to do your research and gather as much information as possible. In my experience, Shiftsmart appears to be a legitimate company that offers flexible work opportunities for individuals looking to work from home. However, it’s important to note that everyone’s experience may differ, and researching reviews and employee experiences can provide valuable insight into the company culture.
Thank you for your opinion friend!
Hi and thanks for the great overview on Shiftsmart, it really gives some piece of mind when looking at these sort of sites if someone like yourself has already checked them out. The in depth info you offer really helps to give an overview of what to look for. Unfortunately I don’t live in the United States but do you know of equivalent sites in Europe or do ShiftSmart operate in Europe too? If you could do reviews on European companies this would be really good thanks
Pete
Thank yu for your cmment friend!
Hi, Dima thanks for this clear article. As you said making money online is so good that you can save your time. I didn’t hear of Shiftsmart but after reading your article I think it’s a good platform that has training too. The good point is that you aren’t an employee and you can work for yourself.
Thank you for your comment friend!
After going through the blog post discussing the online platform Shiftsmart, I am not convinced that it is a worthwhile option for making money online. It appears to come with a set of technical complications and data privacy concerns that can be quite overwhelming. Granted, if one is in search of a side hustle to earn extra income, Shiftsmart may seem like a viable option. However, there are several other legitimate opportunities available that offer decent earning potential without the technical intricacies or the requirement to share personal data.
If Shiftsmart manages to address its technical glitches and data privacy concerns, then it might just be worth considering as a platform for earning some spending cash. Yet, in my opinion, pursuing affiliate marketing or building a blog would be a more lucrative and sustainable option for anyone looking to earn some extra income online. These avenues have been tried and tested by many and have proven to be successful. With a bit of dedication, some research, and effort, they can enable one to build a sustainable income stream rather than just a one-off earning opportunity.

Hi Dima,
I never heard of Shiftsmart until reading your article. As I see, it only works in America, which is understandable, as I am located in another country.
Anyway, it’s good to know that Shiftsmart is legit, with its limitations in earnings, but it might be a good solution for beginner freelancers. Thank you for sharing this information. Keep up the good work.
