If a reader hits the “View at Dell” button, they are routed to the product page on Dell.com via an affiliate link, with Laptop Mag receiving a commission on each transaction.
Because “best laptops” is searched 112,000 times each month, this post is another source of passive revenue.
Did you notice anything noteworthy when we were conducting these Google searches?
There was no genuine firm selling the items ranked for these criteria. On page one, there were no Capital One or Discover rankings – only affiliate blogs. There was also no rating for “best laptop” from Dell, Best Buy, or HP — it was all blogs.
Why is this the case?
When people search for the “best” items, they expect extensive review postings rather than product sites.
They are not yet ready to purchase. They want to read a lengthy comparison of the various possibilities.
This is how blogs generate revenue. They act as intermediaries for search intent. They drive traffic through search engines, offer advice, and encourage consumers to click on affiliate links.
It’s as easy as that.
